Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle in Bristol, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though specific age restrictions may apply based on vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving licence that meets the Rental Agreement criteria is required, along with identification and proof of address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, alongside any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Bristol office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are usually required upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Bristol, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign it. The vehicle should be returned in the same state as received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional charges may apply. Ensure the fuel level is the same upon return; refueling fees will be incurred if the level is lower. Late returns could result in extra charges, so please notify us immediately if you anticipate any delays. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or other charges that occur during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to further limit your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses for Rental Vehicles
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to third parties or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Adhere to passenger and weight limits, and do not operate the vehicle outside the designated geographical area without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bristol is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Bristol Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
